The rain abated, but not for long. I stopped at various locations on a whistle stop trip. Hoylake, West Kirby, New Brighton and Starbucks to keep my daughter sweet and moan free. It seemed to do the trick as we both enjoyed a mint hot chocolate to warm us up.

Oystercatcher in the gloom.
Redshank taking shelter at West Kirby.
Shelduck on the beach at Hoylake.
I like the reflections in that first photo.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures. I really like the one of the redshank -the contrast of colours is very effective.
ReplyDeleteThe rain and gray skies may soften the images a bit but the lack of shadow and greater sense of dimension makes them very appealing.
ReplyDeleteHello, gorgeous birds and images. I love your Redshank, it reminds me of our Purple Sandpiper. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family!
Wonderful captures of lovely birds.
ReplyDeleteI'm blown away by the almost neon appendages
ReplyDeleteNice shots -I hope to get some shots of waders over the next month or so - but just like your its weather dependent - although here, heat haze can be an issue!!

With that leg color of the redshank, they'd be difficult to mis-identify for sure. They're awesome. Your oystercatchers are just a bit different than the ones in USA...but gorgeous non-the-less.
ReplyDeleteLoved your bird photos this week....your gray cast images look like you're having the same weather pattern we are in south Texas. Hoping the sun will return soon.
Thank you so much for adding your link to I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend for us to view your post!!! Wonderful.
Great birds and photos.
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE shore birds. The Shelduck is striking!
ReplyDeleteWonderful getting out with your daughter like that! Loved seeing the birds.
