Brambling - Elton Reservoir

Sunshine, and lots of it, has been the theme over the last week. Very few clouds and add to that a bit of warmth and this makes me a very happy boy. It meant I could get out at the weekend with the certainty that the light would be good for some better pictures.
I ventured to Elton Reservoir once again and got lucky with a few Brambling still around the feeders. Not the easiest of subjects, but as the light was good I have forgiven the unsightly branches and the feeder that one was sat on.

This very nice male perched nicely in the sunlight.

  5. Such a lovely bird! Some of them are so tricky. I find brown creepers really hard, as they are so fast! Good work.

  6. As I already said to Phil, the Brambling is a subject I have not been able to capture yet. Although it stops sometimes in my garden before continuing its migration to Lapland.
    Your shots are great!

  16. The Brambling is a lovely bird. I like to see birds in their habitat, so the branch tangle just adds to my smiles. If I were ever lucky enough to be in the same vicinity as this beauty, I’d know where to look . (Though the feeder would be easier and more my speed).

  18. Often bird's camouflage. But this bird’s flowery orange/red feathers add a nice bit of color to the mossy green tangle of branches.
