The Warming Winter Sunshine

Early morning and the late evening sun provides some wonderful light. Something a bit different to the norm. Add some water into the mix and you can get some very nice atmospheric results. An early start in North West Manchester provided a great opportunity for such light.
It was cold and calm, and there were plenty of birds. Most were very busy after their roost and quite a number came close enough for some good views.

A Coot making the most of the warming sunshine.

Female Mallard.

Moorhen.

A Pochard also enjoying the sun, but sadly it was a bit too bright in this shot.

  1. Great photos Adam... I totally agree with your early morning light comment. It can definitely cast a completely different prospective on a subject.
By the way, all of my family live in Cheshire except me. I've been the roaming gypsy and am now in the North East of Bonnie Scotland.
Have a great week and thanks for sharing :D

  6. Adam, I'm not much of a bird person, even though my husband has a bird name (Robin). lol How does a CAT and Robin get along? We are a beautiful match up! We both enjoy photography. He actually got me hooked in the early 80s. I don't have a natural photo eye as he does but I try to learn from him all that I can. You did a fabulous job capturing these feathery friends. The Coot is an interesting chubby, little guy. It kinda reminds me of a football with a head. :) Have a funtastic day this WW!
