Let me know when that tide's coming in won't you

Same old same old.

You see all sorts on the water. If you're lucky you'll get to see something a little out of the ordinary, but most of the time it's the same old suspects. These shouldn't be taken for granted though. Once upon a time the Tree and House Sparrow were very common sights in this country. Enjoy what's in front of you no matter how familiar they are.

  1. Once you start to look closely, even the most common birds are rather wonderful!

Sorry about delayed reply - I have not been at home!

  2. Those are wonderful close ups. I see a lot of Canada Geese here but my sightings of the Coot are rare and don't believe I've ever seen a Moorhen. Your photos are great and very enjoyable.

  3. Great shots of the Geese, Coots and the moorhen.. I see lots of Canada geese and Coots here but the Moorhen is a little more uncommon bird. Thanks for linking up with Saturday's Critters. Have a happy weekend!

  5. I see the moorhen and coots, but the Canadian Goose isn't here this far south. I enjoyed those photos very much Adam.

  7. Well I certainly enjoyed these, yes! :) Wonderful beautiful shots / never take anything for granted / exotic OR everyday...to me, these shots are not everyday as I am not near the water...they are quite special :)

  8. Beautiful birds and great reflection shot of the moorhen too...they are pretty hard to find aren't they? I am glad it is OK to take pictures of the usual suspects. Because if it were not, I'd hardly ever have any pictures at all.

  9. Great thoughts about these common water fowl. It's often not the subject but the quality of the image and the use of natural light!! These images are really beautiful!!

  12. Beautiful photos of the usual suspects. I mostly see the same birds while out walking, but I always enjoy seeing them.

  13. Do you know I wrote a similar blog post not so long back after spending an hour or so photographing a Robin, it is amazing how we neglect the birds we see everyday on local patches and focus our attention on the out of the ordinary (although I have fallen in love with a pair of Great-crested Grebe on the local lake I watch as they are so interesting to watch).

Oh and I can't go without saying your cover photo at the top is simply stunning.

  16. It's great to showcase the birds common to our area. What;s common to you may be quite exotic to me. ;)

  20. I never take the commoner species for granted. Without them our countryside would be a very barren place. Great photos.

  21. I don't see Canada Geese very often, so I love to see them in posts. Like EG Camera Girl said, what's common to you is exotic to someone else. Thanks for posting.
