I think I counted three eggs in total, but sadly only one has made it and being fed by the adults.
Keeping a lookout while the partner is on the eggs.

RSPB South Stack - Peregrines
Back at the end of April I made the trip to RSPB South Stack on Anglesey in North Wales. I was fortunate to get some very close views of a pair of nesting Peregrines on the cliffs. It was nice to be able to look down on these birds rather than looking up high to see them.

Those are such great shots. The viewing platform/hide must have been quite a climb to get up to.

ReplyDeleteI love seeing the Peregrines in their natural habitat. I have worked with several Peregrines who were either imprinted or being used by a falconer and it just isn't the same as seeing them in the wild. We have them living on the high rises in Chicago. They brought them here to help control the pigeon population and they have been very successful. The population has increased and it not uncommon to see them sitting on a windsill ... They are marvelous birds. Great pictures ... I assume you were able to get up and down safely. Lucky you!

Brilliant pictures. I visited just the week before they started nesting and just the female was there. I wish I had gone back a few times as the photos you have posted are so good. From Findlay

ReplyDeleteA great place to visit Adam and you didn't waste your visit with those lovely shots of the pair at the nest. Like you say, looking down is much better than looking up, or trying to follow one hundreds of yards away as it beats up the shoreline birds before doing a disappearing act.
