There was a Great White Egret at Redesmere a few winters ago, but it was a bit hit and miss whether you'd see it or not, and it would quite often move off for weeks on end. This year, one turned up about a month ago, and it has stayed present ever since, and it is not tricky to find now that it likes to stay on the main lake. It often gets harassed by the Grey Herons, but it will then take flight and show itself to anyone who hadn't spotted it. Nice to have around locally, and not something I'd have dreamt of even just a few years ago. They're becoming more and more common, and they're a really nice addition to the list.
Great White Egret

ReplyDeleteYour photos of the Great White Egret against the green background definitely make the white pop! It looks so graceful with its wings spread.
ReplyDeleteBirds of many sorts have been expanding their range here in North America, and I g uess it’s happening over there too, perhaps due to climate change.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos with his wings outspread. I see quite a few here in Florida but rarely get photos with the wings open. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA nice view of the beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteThere are a pair here today
