Same old same old.
You see all sorts on the water. If you're lucky you'll get to see something a little out of the ordinary, but most of the time it's the same old suspects. These shouldn't be taken for granted though. Once upon a time the Tree and House Sparrow were very common sights in this country. Enjoy what's in front of you no matter how familiar they are.

Those are wonderful close ups. I see a lot of Canada Geese here but my sightings of the Coot are rare and don't believe I've ever seen a Moorhen. Your photos are great and very enjoyable.

I see the moorhen and coots, but the Canadian Goose isn't here this far south. I enjoyed those photos very much Adam.

Photographing the Moorhens are a difficult to catch, they eat furiously, well done the photos Adam.
ReplyDeleteWell I certainly enjoyed these, yes! :) Wonderful beautiful shots / never take anything for granted / exotic OR everyday...to me, these shots are not everyday as I am not near the water...they are quite special :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds and great reflection shot of the moorhen too...they are pretty hard to find aren't they? I am glad it is OK to take pictures of the usual suspects. Because if it were not, I'd hardly ever have any pictures at all.
ReplyDeleteGreat thoughts about these common water fowl. It's often not the subject but the quality of the image and the use of natural light!! These images are really beautiful!!

ReplyDeleteDo you know I wrote a similar blog post not so long back after spending an hour or so photographing a Robin, it is amazing how we neglect the birds we see everyday on local patches and focus our attention on the out of the ordinary (although I have fallen in love with a pair of Great-crested Grebe on the local lake I watch as they are so interesting to watch).
