Jackdaw

The beach in Llandudno had many Jackdaws scurrying around looking for scraps to feed on. Some were really quite cheeky, hopping onto the railings to see if you'll kindly drop any ice cream for them. Still, they are my favourite corvid and they're pretty clever guys too. Plus they have that piercing blue eye. So handsome.

  1. I was just about to say: what a handsome bird, when I read your post; and you said the same thing. These Jackdaws look like our House crows and seem to have the same personalities!

  6. I like your Jackdaw pictures Adam. There are very few confiding Jackdaws around these parts, mainly because the species is regularly shot at by local "sportsmen". A shame really because they are not such pests as Carrion Crows.

  10. I agree, a very handsome bird. I my area Jackdaws are very rare due to the loose of nesting places and industrial farming. They count them and recognized that only 1 or 2 birds per nest survives the first year.

  11. How brave looking and handsome Jackdaw he is♪♪♪ As for corvid , we can only see black ones here in my area. Thank you SO much, 'corvid' was the first word for me :-)

  13. The Jackdaw looks like a corvid with personality....although they all have quite the personality. Yet I can distinguish this one from other crows and ravens!
