One of the areas I visited was New Brighton. I'd not been here before, so didn't really know what to expect. What I did get was a nice sandy beach with the tide just on its way out.
It wasn't long before I spotted some Redshank on the shore line. One of them seemed to be holding its left leg as if injured. Hopefully it will be ok. It wasn't affecting it too badly.
Redshank with a Common Gull.
A razor clam shell can be seen here in the foreground. There were lots about.
I do wonder how it could have hurt itself.
I always feel sad when birds have injuries, but they seem to cope somehow, I love your images of the Redshank in flight. You really do take beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of the redshank especially the ones in flight.

ReplyDeleteartmusedog and carol (A Creative Harbor) ~ Happy Week to you!
Well I can see how they got the name, Redshank. Such a pretty bird. Those in flight shots were fantastic.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the birds. I like last two shots very much.
ReplyDeleteI've seen.a good few injured waders this year. I think they get injuries from feeding in amongst tidal rocks hence one legged Lapwing, Curlew and Oystercatcher.
ReplyDeleteI just love your Redshank, I wish we saw them here.. It is a pretty bird.. Awesome photos.
ReplyDeletePretty little guys, aren't they?

ReplyDeleteMarie

ReplyDeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots of the Redshank in flight
ReplyDeleteLovely images Adam... and although it's just up the road from me I haven't been there.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me sad when they get injured, but I know nature has it's ways of working things out. I had a Mallard male who had injured a leg and could bearly limp on it ... but, he could still fly and he stayed with a flock and as a result he is still around and walking much better. I love a happy ending :) Beautiful shots Adam ...

ReplyDeleteOh poor bird..at times there are several limping ducks here..One mallard has been here for 3 seasons after losing a leg to a snapping turtle...some make it despite the odds....Michelle
ReplyDeleteGorgeous birds. Sometimes the birds need a few days to let the wing heal. They can heal fast. Crossing my fingers that this one will be okay.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's not called an Orange Shank? the colour of it's beak and legs is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI do love redshank and they are one wader I can recognise! Your photos give me the chance to see their beauty in more detail. Many thanks for adding more of our feathered friends to #AnimalTales
