New Brighton

Thankfully, this weekend turned out to be dry and sunny, so my fears of dark wet days can wait a while. I made my way to the Wirral to avoid rain that looked like it would get to most other places.
One of the areas I visited was New Brighton. I'd not been here before, so didn't really know what to expect. What I did get was a nice sandy beach with the tide just on its way out.
It wasn't long before I spotted some Redshank on the shore line. One of them seemed to be holding its left leg as if injured. Hopefully it will be ok. It wasn't affecting it too badly.

Redshank with a Common Gull.

A razor clam shell can be seen here in the foreground. There were lots about.

I do wonder how it could have hurt itself.

  7. Pretty birds...I love the tail markings in flight that you captured through the lens.

I see so many injured birds...it's sad. But they somehow survive and don't seem to worry them much.

  12. I've seen.a good few injured waders this year. I think they get injuries from feeding in amongst tidal rocks hence one legged Lapwing, Curlew and Oystercatcher.

  17. It makes me sad when they get injured, but I know nature has it's ways of working things out. I had a Mallard male who had injured a leg and could bearly limp on it ... but, he could still fly and he stayed with a flock and as a result he is still around and walking much better. I love a happy ending :) Beautiful shots Adam ...

  30. Gorgeous birds. Sometimes the birds need a few days to let the wing heal. They can heal fast. Crossing my fingers that this one will be okay.
