I spent a weekend in Northumberland with my Dad back in the summer, with the Farne Islands the main focus. Puffins in particular were the real focus, as my Dad had always wanted to see one, and what better place to see them in their thousands than these islands off the north east coast. It wasn't exactly wall to wall sunshine, and it was pretty gloomy on the day we took the boat out to the islands, so the pictures are not the best, but this little sea bird lights up any occasion.
Fantastic. Great shots. I envy you so much when you could admire them from so close!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots of the little birds.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI just love the Puffin! It is on my most want to see list. Awesome collection of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
We just loved the puffins that we saw nesting in Iceland last summer and on an island off Norway a few years ago. The Iceland ones were bringing beaks full of tiny fish to the young inside the nests -- they dig holes in the sides of cliffs so you can't see the pufflings, but you know they are in there.

ReplyDeleteLovely puffins.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas - I hope your days are blessed!
I've never seen one in person but love photos and TV shows with puffins. For some reason, they are adorable to me. Maybe it is the curve of the beak and the markings. Just makes me smile
ReplyDeleteSuch funny little fellows!

We may see a puffin a thousand times and still be as fascinated as we were the first time. All the very best of the season, Adam, with great birding in 2022.
