Common Gull

I'm not huge fan of gulls. Mainly as I really struggle with their identification in their many different phases of plumage. One that I do like a lot though is the Common Gull. There seem to be many in Norfolk and it's where I seem to come across them without looking out for them.

I do like the stripey head.

  1. I like this bird also, and the 'stripey head' is a bonus. I spent most of my life on the west coast of Canada and have long loved seeing gulls. I always wanted to see a baby seagull, but they nest on inconspicuous hunks of rock in hard-to-reach places. Some years after I had moved away from White Rock, British Columbia, a wonderful thing happened...a gull nested in the eaves of the old train station, now an art gallery, and a friend told me about it immediately. Warmed my heart to think of it, but broke my heart that I wasn't there to see it!

  2. I always think they look well dressed, as if dressed in formal wear. Nice shots!

  5. What a poser! I don't mind one or two gulls, but I am put off by large flocks and the associated 'dirt' ...
