Choseley Drying Barns

Choseley drying barns are a great place to stop for a variety of birds at all times of year. Being just a stones throw, inland from Titchwell, I am never far away on my visits to Norfolk. I usually make passing visits as I move on to my next destination and have a good scan of the fields to see what's about.
The barns are used for drying grain and this attracts Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer and the odd Tree Sparrow. I have yet to see Corn Bunting here, but was fortunate to see a dozen or so Yellowhammer feeding very close by.
Red-legged Partridge and Grey Partridge were seen in the fields too on what was a really rather nice warm Spring day.

The barns at Choseley. The coastal path follows the hedge line on the left hand side.

Grey Partridge. Good numbers were seen around the hedge-lined fields.

  2. What an interesting place - if it attracts birds, I'm in! I love the grey partridge. I wondered what a Yellowhammer looked like: reminds me a little of our weavers. But much more marked and brighter yellow. Thanks for sharing. Jo

  5. I'm always fascinated to see your photos. One, because they're always good, and two, because you have birds there which don't exist here in the States.

  11. That 4th picture is funny: that bird can't make up his mind whether to go into the shade or stay in the sunshine.

  14. Not seen a Yellowhammer yet this year. But I am waiting outside at my Grandma's as she saw one all last week, so I'm waiting for it to revisit.

  16. Hello - lovely photos, particularly of the yellowhammer. I used to hear them frequently in the fields behind me but now I only hear them occasionally. I do love to see them.
