Common Redstart

With Summer fast drawing to an end, it will soon be time to say goodbye to some of my favourite migrants. The young should have now fledged and be getting themselves fed up to make their incredibly long journeys to other continents.
I long for the returning Redstarts each Spring, so it will be sad to see them head off.

A lovely pose from this stunning male.

  1. These are cracking looking birds - I wonder who banded / ringed it? That would be some bird to have in the hand.

  6. Yes, the time is approaching for us in south Florida to await the arrival of the early migrants, most of which will simply pass through. The later ones are more apt to stay, e.g., Yellow-rumped Warblers and sparrows.

  7. He's very handsome. Some birds don't stay very long before they leave again.

  8. I haven't seen a Redstart all year Adam, so it's great for you to remind me what they look like.

I know what you mean about the migrants leaving. But it's coming up on Fall here in South Texas so I'm looking forward to the migrating birds heading farther south for the winter.

Thank you for linking up at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend. Always appreciated!!
