Local Patch Watching

I've been out recently, looking for signs of spring on my local patch. It's a little slow at the moment, but things are starting to pick up. Just this evening I came across a pair of Oystercatcher for the second time in just a couple of weeks. I hope they nest and raise some young as previous pairs have done in the last few years.

  2. Beautiful birds! The orange really stands out in contrast to the black/white plumage.

  5. Tes, those two look like they are at it Adam. In similar stages around here but no eggs yet. It's been a bit cold for both Lapwings and Oystercatchers to lay eggs as yet.

  7. Adam, I have a pair (sometimes 2) that return to my very inland patch in East Cheshire to breed. They sit in with the Lapwings on the cultivated fields or the local Golf Course. Mine are back and very active, great bird and a post that I can really appreciate, cheers

  8. I love these birds .... I hope they nest too. (Although in that last picture, it looks like the one (female?) has had enough for the time being!
