There was a Great White Egret at Redesmere a few winters ago, but it was a bit hit and miss whether you'd see it or not, and it would quite often move off for weeks on end. This year, one turned up about a month ago, and it has stayed present ever since, and it is not tricky to find now that it likes to stay on the main lake. It often gets harassed by the Grey Herons, but it will then take flight and show itself to anyone who hadn't spotted it. Nice to have around locally, and not something I'd have dreamt of even just a few years ago. They're becoming more and more common, and they're a really nice addition to the list.
