A Curlew just above the sand at New Brighton
A lone Pink-footed Goose proving that Autumn had really arrived.
Good numbers of Shelduck were at Hoylake and Meols.
A Common Gull resting on the sand before high tide.
The very elusive Water Rail made an unexpected appearance. Never easy to sea these birds, as they usually stick to the reeds. This was a real bonus.
Hello. Great photos. The Shelduck is one of my favorite bird. Finnish breeding population estimated only 200-400 pairs.
ReplyDeleteAs you say, it always pays to take the camera. In my experience Water Rails are either impossible, or absolutely easy. At Rutland Water once I had one feeding in front of a hide for several minutes. There was also a Water Vole in the same vicinity so it was a double bonus.
ReplyDeleteHello, these are all great bird sightings. I love the Rail and the Curlew. The Shelduck is a beauty. Wonderful photos. Thanks so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your day and weekend!
