This Grey Plover was on the beach at Titchwell, on my last visit. Still in it's winter plumage, it was well camouflaged against the stony area it had chosen to rest up. A nice looking wader and one that is happy to not scurry around the sands avoiding waves, unlike the Sanderling and Dunlin that were nearby.
Can you see the two very well disguised Turnstones in the top picture? Superb camouflage.
I doubt I would have seen the Turnstones, had you not pointed them out! Pretty Plover.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics...
ReplyDeleteA lovely little bird. It's not one I've seen before but you can definitely tell it's from the plover family.
ReplyDeleteI would never have spotted them.
ReplyDeleteI can't ever remember which bird is what when I'm at the beach - they seem to be either pelicans, sandpipers, or seagulls. I keep hoping I'll learn who's who, but we're not there often enough, many look so similar to my novice eye, and my memory is shot!!!
ReplyDelete;)
Your photos may be just what I need to help be broaden my knowledge base!

Sweet looking bird, in a beautiful setting. I have not been around much in past several weeks, but making my way back through the folds. Take care~
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and like the Turnstones getting in on the photo.

What beautiful photos. So well composed, and such a perfect setting for such a beautiful bird.
ReplyDeleteHe really blends in with the gravely rocks. I think I see them in the top photo. Maybe...
ReplyDeleteInteresting that it's still dressed for winter. Looks like a gentle bird
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to bird. I have never seen a plover in person., I saw the two birds hidden in the top photo with difficulty... Michelle
ReplyDeleteI've never met a plover, either, but perhaps I will when I'm in England later this year. Another bird-blogger, Phil, is on my shortlist of people to visit. He has promised to take me to Kay's Chippy in Knott-End-on-Sea, and I'm hoping he'll take me to see some of "his" birds.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your plover photo and perhaps I'll see more of your birds on your blog...I see you have a long list!
Cheers,
